Who we are

Book My Services Ltd, trading as Book My Cleaning, is the data controller for the information described here. You can reach us on 020 8137 0752 or at hello@bookmycleaning.co.uk. If you would like a copy of your data, or want it corrected or deleted, that is the address to use.

What we collect

• When you book or ask for a quote: name, email, phone, address, postcode, the service and property details, any notes you add, and how you chose to pay.
• If you create an account: the same details plus a password, which is stored only as an encrypted one-way hash — nobody at Book My Cleaning can read it.
• When you pay by card: the payment is handled entirely by Stripe. We never see or store your card number. We keep only the amount, the date and Stripe's reference.
• Photographs of the work: your cleaner may photograph rooms before and after the clean, as a record of the work done. See "Photographs" below.
• If you apply to work with us: your work history, availability, right-to-work and DBS details.
• Automatically: your IP address and basic technical information, used to keep the site secure and to stop spam.

Why we use it, and our lawful basis

• To carry out the clean you booked — confirmations, reminders, giving your cleaner the address. Basis: performance of a contract.
• To take payment and keep accounts — invoices, receipts, tax records. Basis: contract and legal obligation.
• To run the business safely — vetting cleaners, handling complaints, preventing fraud. Basis: legitimate interests.
• To send you offers and news by email — only if you ticked the box. Basis: consent, which you can withdraw at any time.

Marketing emails

We only send marketing email to people who have asked for it. There is a tick box when you book and when you create an account; it is never ticked for you. If you say yes we may send occasional offers, seasonal reminders and news — no more than a couple of times a month.

Every marketing email has an unsubscribe link at the bottom, and one click is enough. You can also reply to any email, call 020 8137 0752, or turn it off in your account. Withdrawing consent does not affect emails about a booking you have made — confirmations, reminders and receipts are part of the service and are sent whatever your marketing choice.

Photographs

Cleaners photograph the rooms they work in, before and after, so both you and we have a record of what was done. These images are kept for 60 days at full size and then automatically reduced to a small copy for our records. They are shown only to you, your cleaner and our office, and are never used in advertising without asking you first.

Who we share it with

Your cleaner receives only what they need to do the job: name, address, phone and any notes. We also use these providers:

• Hostinger — hosting for the website and database (EU data centres).
• Brevo — sending our emails.
• Stripe — processing card payments.

We do not sell your information to anyone, ever. We share it with the authorities only where the law requires it.

How long we keep it

• Booking, invoice and payment records: six years, as tax law requires.
• Enquiries that do not become a booking: 12 months.
• Before-and-after photographs: 60 days at full size, then a small copy.
• Marketing consent: until you withdraw it, plus a record of the withdrawal.
• Unsuccessful job applications: 12 months.

Your rights

You can ask us to show you the information we hold, correct it, delete it, restrict how we use it, or send it to another provider. You can object to processing based on legitimate interests, and withdraw marketing consent at any time. Email hello@bookmycleaning.co.uk and we will reply within one month.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.

Cookies

We use only what the site needs to work: a sign-in cookie so your account stays open, and a small record of your last quote so the booking form remembers it. There is no advertising tracking and no third-party analytics cookie set without your say-so. You can clear cookies at any time in your browser settings.

Keeping it safe

The site runs over HTTPS, passwords are hashed, panel access is limited by role, and card details never touch our servers. If a breach ever affected your rights we would tell you and the ICO within 72 hours.
